Back from Tokyo

We’ve been back from Tokyo for over a week and I’m only just getting around to writing my first post.

I meant to take pics of some of the great stuff I brought back from Japan, but I ran out of daylight hours on the weekend.  So for now here are a few of my favourite pics from our trip.
Above:  A small garden outside a shrine in Sugamo.

Above:  A fabric mobile hanging outside a store in Sugamo.

Above:  Don Quixote building in Roppongi lit up at night.

Above: Huge barrels of sake, a gift to the Gods outside a shrine in Harajuku.

Above:  A Japanese girl cleansing her hands before entering a shrine in Harajuku.

Above:  A windmill garden in Euro-style Ebisu.

Above:  The Yebisu Beer Museum, I loved the pendant light!

Above:  A close up of a building in Yokohama (China Town).

Above:  An umbrella display in Matsuya Ginza (one of my favourite Japanese department stores).

Above:  The best chocolate brownies I’ve tasted, from Printemps Ginza (a French department store in Tokyo).

Andy Warhol posters

How was your weekend?  I did a little bit of shopping at Westfield Bondi Junction and Peter’s of Kensington... mostly travel essentials for our upcoming trip to Tokyo.

I also did a little bit of web browsing and came across this image on a Swedish website, Alvhem.

I want the Andy Warhol posters on the back wall.  Here’s a close up because you can’t really read them in the picture above.

I love the quotes and the simple black on white typography.
They appear to be posters advertising a museum exhibition in Stockholm Sweden in 1968, so I haven’t been able to find any copies online.

I may have to make some prints of my own prints with Andy’s fabulous quotes.

Black, white, gold and mirrors

I love the combination of white walls with black Louis-style furniture, oversized mirrors and touches of gold in these two rooms.  Both spaces are quite glamorous and dramatic without being over the top.

I also love the idea of the fabric-wrapped chandelier chain in the first image.

I am considering buying a ‘World Map’ wall decal from Ferm Living, like that featured in the second image, to place on the wall in our study/home office.
